So I got a couple of Arsion vids last week and I was impressed. This was my first look at joshi.
Then I got Dean Rasmussen`s Joshi Addiction tape. I watch as these broads kick each other in the head. I don`t believe I have ever seen anyone do this in WWE, although Tajiri comes close.
Then I read about the ``late`` Mariko, and I do some searching and learn she died due to possible wrestling related injuries.
Last match: August 15 1997 at the Hiroshima Sun Plaza, Plum teamed with Commando Bolshoi against Mayumi Ozaki & Rieko Amano.
Died: August 16 1997
I`d like to know if anyone saw this match, and if they saw her take any really nasty shots. I am not interested in seeing this woman take her death blow or anything sick like that, just curious if the match was very stiff, if the injuries just built up over the years, DID she take a real nasty kick in the head during this match, etc etc.
This was the info I got after searching for her on aol...

Best Moves
Victory Roll to Cross Knee Scissors. A move that sets up as a counter, and finishes up with the opponent in a painful submission hold.
Top rope huracanrana. She used this to pin Sakie Hasegawa at Dream Slam. She has the opponent on the top rope, jumps, and gets her legs around their head and pulls back so the opponents lands hard on their head or back.
Other Notes
Plum was the first person in Japan to die as a result of injuries suffered in a wrestling match.
Although no postmortem was performed at the request of her father, Plum was said to have had head injuries and an abcsess on her brain which may have contributed to the brain damage that killed her.
Inducted into the All Japan Womens Hall of Fame on November 29, 1998

This is actually an interesting question. I think JWP might have destroyed the footage of that match. I know none of the tapes I have from around then show the match at all. That could be wrong, but I've seen nobody who talks about seeing that match.
As far as her injury, it was a case of it building up over time. It may very well have been many years in the making, as her match against Hotta at Thunder Queen looked like Plum really had some problems with her head then.
Mike Lorefice had a great article on Plum at the old Quebrada, here is the archived version, Plum Mariko Tribute

She continued to wrestle despite repeated concussions. The feds are a lot more careful now. The same thing could have happened to Yumi Fukawa but ARSION made her stop.
