    Mima Shimoda's retirement

Mima Shimoda will be retiring on the "Major Girl's Fighting A to Z" show at Tokyo's Ariake Coliseum on 9/13. Her plans are to move into training and she is listed as a director with Yoshida in the front office of the promotion. I for one will be sorry to see her go but I understand it. I hope MGFAZ gives her the biggest retirement ever.

Get out of here, what's her reason for retiring?

She's just tired of it. Stolen from nikkansports by way of babelfish- "Shimoda is physical strength all right but the spiritual aspect which it keeps maintaining became painful." I'm glad she wants to walk away while she is still in one piece I will miss her though.

On a related note, MGFAZ has absorbed ARSION.

    ARSION is no more.

It stands for Major Girls Fighting A To Z but is being called A To Z. The promotion will officially launch on July 25 but ARSION shows are already being run under the A To Z name. Basically. it's a new start for a promotion that wasn't going anywhere. Along with Yumiko Hotta, who with Shimoda will do a lot of the booking, they have added Mika Nishio, Sachie Abe, Nanae Takahashi will join the company soon, and they are giving a couple of wrestlers new identities. Lioness Aska & Bionic J have left though Bionic J will be replaced by a gaijin to be announced in the next week I think. I know who this is but I'm not going to tell you yet. I have been sworn to secrecy. Even if you have an idea who it is, please keep it quiet for now. Thank you.

I was really pleased last year when Arsion brought in Taylor and Melissa I bought all the tapes Highspots carried while they were there but I can't think of anyone this year I'd like to see. They would be better off signing Azumi Hyuga full time before Gaea gets her. Actually if MGFAZ have the money they can probably sign most of the remaining Zenjo workers I can't think of anyone Chigusa would be interested in besides Momoe.

Aw man... I saw an ARSION comp tape and I really enjoyed it. I actually first saw Shimoda with her partner Mita in a cage match on Japanese hardcore Wrestling II a few months ago. The first thing that stood out for me was the unbelievable glee she has on her face while she was making her opponents suffer. [a sentence removed by admin] So actually, it's Los Cachorres that spurned me to get into joshi in the first place. No one can replace her charisma, that's for sure.

Her final opponent will be the future of Joshi herself, Mika Nishio with Jinsei Shinaki as the referee. I guess they didn't want to sign Mita what a disappointment.

I hate to see her go. The LCO, like another poster, was one of the reasons I got hooked by the Joshi bug. But if she has to go, she couldn't wait another month, so I could see the show... *sigh*

I've not heard of this MGFAZ group... they have a website up and running yet?

    Bozo.
A-HA! (pronoun trouble) It's not "He doesn't have to shoot YOU now", it's "He doesn't have to shoot ME now". Well, I say he DOES have to shoot me now, so shoot me now! // *BLAM* // Yooooooooou're deth-picable!

Here is their website but it's not as good as the old Arsion website.

They have added Momoe Nakanishi to the show here is a photo. That should at least help the quality of the show but it will be interesting to see how many they draw at Korakuen Hall I hope it's a good crowd.
