Hey, thanks for your help on the other forums, guys. Recently I saw the AJW Tokyo Dome show from '94. I read everything I could find about the event itself, so I had an idea of what to expect. I have to admit I have never seen anything like it. It didn't feel like the so called "sports-entertainment" at all. The entertainment was the sport, if you know what I mean. I have spent most of my life watching almost nothing but the WWE, so seeing this was a breath of fresh air in more ways than one. Even though it was insanely long (longer than what I'm used to), there was hardly a dull moment. Let's not forget all the legendary matches! I haven't been the same wrestling fan since, and that's a good thing. Some of you have seen the show I'm sure, what were your reactions the first time you saw it?
Well I haven't seen it yet but I'm definately going to order it when I can afford too.
I was amazed just reading about it, I couldn't believe that something like it could ever have happened, it most certainly would never have happened in the US. I really can't wait to see it when I get the chance
To tell you the truth I didn't learn to appreciate it until later. It was the fourth Joshi tape that I bought and I thought it was all that good. Now I know it really stands out as a one-of-a-kind event. It has some great production values and the crowd was terrific. I could have lived without the shoot and midget matches but everything else was great. Aja Kong really worked her guts out in her three matches it's a shame they didn't give her the win in the main event. Toyoda-Hotta and Kansai-Inoue were both career matches. The stuff after the main event was great.

Do me a favor...
Try, and I do mean try, to picture Victoria, Trish, Molly, Nidia and the other WWE Divas trying to stay with the Momoe Nakanishi's, Nane Takashi's and Ayako Hamada's and any other Joshi stars, and you will truly see why Joshi Puro is better.

Oh, I have, believe me. The other day, I pictured Jazz and Aja wrestling. I don't know about you, but I'd sell my house to see that. But to be fair, Nidia, Victoria, Molly, and Trish have done a good job in the last year. Especially Trish, who at one point was dismissed as nothing more than another piece of T & A. Now she's the one reason why I haven't turned from women's wrestling in this country. Her improvement is nothing short of inspiring, because she's officially credible, using psychology in her matches and taking big hits. Victoria's just plain entertaining, and she can be stiff sometimes too. If we were to complain about how the divas wouldn't cut it with the joshi greats, we should look at Torrie or Dawn Marie or Stacy Kiebler who have been in many matches, but whose skills don't even compare. It would be fun seeing Nakanishi potatoing Torrie for a while, LOL.
I haven't seen WWE in a few years, so I can't comment on the current state of the womens division. But the last time I did see it,with a few exceptions. it wasn't even close to the level of the worst of Japan's female athletes. But to be fair, from what I have seen the female athletes in america have never been on the same level as their Japanese rivals. some have been close, but not close enough.
back on topic, I really wish I had the Big Egg wrestling universe show, it just looks so awesome. anyone of my European neighbors have it? could ya come over to switzerland and show it to me, I gotta see it!

Just send me the train tickets, fire up the fondue and I'll be over
Seriously though, loads of traders have it so you should have no trouble acquiring it. And it'll be cheaper than have any of us come over to Switzerland!
I have this event on 2 VHS tapes that I got in 1995, as you can imagine they are dying after all the times I watched them, especially the Kong - Toyota match (or as my roommates call it "Kong Vs Jumpy Flippy")
Does anyone know of a reputable place to get it on DVD?
