As was reported at www.ichibanpuroresu.com Amazing Kong defeated Nanae Tanahase in the tournament finals. Can you beleive this? I thought that Zenjyo had reached as low as they could get without folding back in '97,but it looks like I was wrong.
This poor company is just a sinking ship that they can't bail the water out of fast enough to keep floating.
Look at all the past winners(and even runner-ups) of this hystorical tournament, and see what it has become. They couldn't put over a much more talented and deserving(if even less known) individual?
I hope they can prove me wrong, but I think the stubborness of the Matsunagas will be the downfall of the company.
I have lot all my respect for my namesake...there I would like to be known as WilliamsFan from now on...I feel disgraced with the name of Edge on me...
You never know, They might be setting up to Have Ayako beat Kong to retain her title. They may be trying to make Kong be the monster that puts Ayako over. you never can tell nowadays, They might try to sign Hamada (lets hope) and push her as champ, if all goes well maybe they can get some other well known Freelancers to sign up with them.
I'm trying to think positive, which is never easy for me(I'm so Pessimistic). If They do something like this and it works, maybe Zenjo will survive. I know Amazing Kong isn't the best talent they have, But if we see her putting Hamada over, who knows what else could happen, it might work out for the better.
They haven't hit their low yet, TR. That will come when they put the Red Belt on Amazing Kong Which I think they will.
The worst is they don't have much choice. Ayako is a freelancer and a transition champion, and not an all that good one at that.
Who else can they put the belt on?
Momoe is out and is going to freelance too when she returnsm which spoils any hope of a Momoe-chasing-Ayako-or-Kong angle. Nanae's intentions are unclear so they can't really put the belt on her either.
The only option seemingly left is to put the belt on ''monster heel'' Amazing Kong and have someone come and "save" AJW. As they don't have any cash, they can't seem anyone new and decent like Ohmukai to do it (unless Inoki and Obata help them), so it may well be some old glory who'll end up filling that role. Who could it be? Kyoko? Jaguar? Lioness? Dump?
This wouldn't be TOO bad, but would definitely signal the end of AJW with one last hurrah...
Since I've been collecting old school AJW so far, I'm a bit out of the loop as far as the recent stuff. I did read a little bit about Amazing Kong, but I don't know too much about her. Is she trying to be like Aja or something? How bad is she anyway? Let me know.
she's a big Black girl from New Japan's L.A. dojo, who is being built as the new monster heel. In the USA, she could probably go far in that role, but in Japan where they have monsters that are 10 times better, she probably won't go anywhere unless she is given an unreasonable push, which seems to be happening now.
I still don't think that they will give her the WWWA title, I just can't see it happening, not when they could give it to someone better. Only way I could see it happening is if she is the best person on the roster, which she is not.
On the other hand, I can kinda see it the way Dr. Feelgood said it will happen, I just hope they get someone worth to take it off her FAST!

Okay, so she's american, eh? Is she hated because she's still green or something? That's the only thing I can think of. I know that Reggie Bennett did real well in Japan, I've seen some of her matches, and they were fun. I think she trained in the US too, if I'm not mistaken. Well like I said, I know next to nothing about her, so who knows.
I think its because she is green, but also, she isn't very original, from what I understand she doesn't do anything to make her stand out against her monster heel predecessors.
some also say she just doesn't have any talent whatsoever.
The thing to remember here is there is a different work ethic in Joshi Puroresu that Americans just don't learn in the US. You can be good in the US, but in Japan you probably wouldn't even be as good as the midcarders. Medusa, Bennett and a few others had some success, but they really aren't on the same level as their Japanese coworkers.

Hell WWE's Jazz could beat her. And what can I say for Muto and Ogawa other than either they are seriously drinking something thats not worth it, or they are on drugs.

For those wondering why she's called Amazing Kong, Here's the story. Last year, Hotta showed up at a GAEA show to challenge Aja Kong to a vale tudo match. At the time, that didn't happen. It eventually did happen in April. So when announcing the Oct. 20 card, that comedian Ogawa announced that Hotta would wrestle "A Kong". That's how Amazing Kong was born. I also think she will win the red belt. Ayako is a freelancer and they have to get it off her. Ayako is returning to Mexico and among other things, plans to work that New Japan jungle show & a CMLL show in Atlanta on Sept. 28. AJW would never sign Ayako full time anyway. For one thing, she didn't train there and Ayako has too many irons in the fire to sign with anyone. Putting the red belt on Amazing Kong is just plain bad.
There are two reasons Amazing Kong gets no respect. First, her gimmick is terrible. Second, she got a ridiculous main event push for someone so green. It has nothing to do with her being a gaijin. Wait till you see what LuFisto is going to do starting Aug. 24 in A To Z.
