    Death of Gompei in 1995

I was going through the www.puroresupower.com news archives, and I found an article about why Hiroshi Hase possibly betrayed Antonio Inoki for All Japan. In the column was the following quote:

"Perhaps, and this is just speculation, it has something to do with the death of amateur wrestler Gompei in the New Japan dojo in 1995. It is well-established that Hase lost interesting in pro-wrestling after the death of Gompei, a young man who he personally brought into New Japan. Hase was the one who convinced Gompei's parents that New Japan would watch for their son's safety, and he was the man who had to tell them of their son's death. While rumor abounds that Kensuke Sasaki was involved in Gompei's death, there was a giant cover-up regarding Gompei's death."

I had never heard anything about the death of this Gompei, and I was wondering if any of you could explain exactly what happened and who was involved. The brief explanation given in the article was very disturbing, and I'd like to know whatever information is available on this tragedy.

Yeah, um... it was said that while in the dojo, Gompei got cocky or snobby or something. Kensuke Sasaki didn't like his attitude and picked on him a lot and at one time, delivered him a real deal Northern Lights Bomb which killed him. Or at least triggered something that Gompei later died from.

Hoo boy...thanks for all the info Muiyan...even though I kind of wish I didn't know at this point...

I'm not gonna be feeling any sympathy for Sasaki when he gets hospitalized by people like Kawada anymore...

Just to make a point (and to prevent any murder plots against Sasaki) I had always heard that much of this is only RUMOR and that very few people know what actually happened in the dojo. I think it is pretty clear though that whatever happened did indeed lead to Hase leaving New Japan.

Well, Sasaki has a seemingly endless list of badly injuring opponants and nasty instances of not taking care of workers in the ring. I don't think it would be totally unbelievable to think he just MIGHT have accidently dropped this Gompei kid on his head.

Sorry to bump this, but I was reading an old issue of the Observer that talks about this incident. It also mentioned another dojo death that happened in the UWF (didn't say which one) but didn't name names or dates. Does anyone know about the UWF death?
