Nagata beat Yoshie... no comment... as expected.
Nakanishi beat Tanahashi... great for Nakanishi

Yasuda defeating Takayama, what purpose does that serve??
Takayama has destroyed him in a NWF title match, now he defeats Takayama in the G1.
Wat's up with dat?
I have lot all my respect for my namesake...there I would like to be known as WilliamsFan from now on...I feel disgraced with the name of Edge on me...
Ryusuke Taguchi beat Hirooki Goto (8:42) with a Scorpion Deathlock.
Tiger Mask, Heat & Masahito Kakihara beat Jushin Thunder Liger, Koji Kanemoto & Minoru Fujita (10:57) when Heat used the Minoru Special on Fujita.
Josh Barnett beat Masayuki Naruse (4:22) by referee stop.

I read a detailed report on Strong Style Spirits...
It seemed that Yasuda needed Makai intervention to get that win as Takayama got more than he bargained for.
Here is official results from Strong Style Spirits...
1. Ryusuke Taguchi beat Hirooki Goto (8:42) with a Scorpion Deathlock.
2. Tiger Mask, Heat & Masahito Kakihara beat Jushin Thunder Liger, Koji Kanemoto & Minoru Fujita (10:57) when Heat used the Minoru Special on Fujita.
3. Josh Barnett beat Masayuki Naruse (4:22) by referee stop.
4. G1 Climax - Block B: Shinsuke Nakamura beat Katsuyori Shibata (10:14) by referee stop.
5. G1 Climax - Block B: Yuji Nagata beat Yutaka Yoshie (12:51) with a backdrop hold.
6. G1 Climax - Block A: Manabu Nakanishi beat Hiroshi Tanahashi (14:04) with a German suplex hold.
7. G1 Climax - Block A: Masahiro Chono beat Osamu Nishimura (24:08) with an inside cradle.
8. G1 Climax - Block B: Tadao Yasuda beat Yoshihiro Takayama (11:16) by referee stop.
9. G1 Climax - Block A: Jun Akiyama beat Hiroyoshi Tenzan (19:43) with a wrist-clutch Exploder
Tenzan didn't show his Anaconda Vice... and Jun Akiyama is really acting as a heel there... Chono seemed very, very old in the photos of the match. Hope he finds enough strength and stamina to face Takayama... the Cage Death Match being an IWGP title defense.
Takayama decked Chono early on in the show... probably to tease the fans... Over all, I think the 1st round of the G1 Climax is very good and successful.
WOW, call me crazy but I was 6 for 6 in these. Yasuda will finish either 3 or 4th in that group. He is a hated heel, and they need to give him wins. Having him win over Takayama by cheating show how "dangerous" he can really be. NJ will want to start a feud for him against someone like Yoshie...
As for Tenzan, I'm expecting him to get to the Final from the back door now, as people will be behind him more that way... Kinda like last year. He might have to win his last match against Nakanishi and wait for Chono's result to get in...
EDIT Notice how I didn't Double post?
-----------------------
Wow. Results are in for day 2 and I was somewhat shocked!
B) Yutaka Yoshie > Shinsuke Nakamura in 12:21 (Diving Body Press)
This was expected. Yoshie will finish 3rd or 4th
B) Katsuyori Shibata > Tadao Yasuda in 1:14
This is a shocker. Yasuda has a history of losing flash matches by rollups, and winning agaisnt tough adversaries...
A) Hiroshi Tanahashi > Hiroyoshi Tenzan in 15:14 by Dragon Suplex.
This is somewhat expected after Tenzan's loss to Akiyama. Awesome news for Tanahashi as he now has a very important victory under his belt. Tenzan WILL now make his way through the back door with 3 wins against Nishimura, Chono, and Nakanishi in his last 3 matches.
A) Osamu Nishimura > Jun Akiyama in 27:17 pinning him with a Cobra Twist
Awesome match I assume, and Nishimura will keep a good performance. Expect him to finish with 4, 5, or 6 points (wins/tie against Nakanishi and Tanahashi, loss to Tenzan) but fail qualify for next round due to his loss to Tenzan
A) Manabu Nakanishi > Masahiro Chono in 11:39 by Cross Knee Scisors Hold.
Great start for Nakanishi! New Japan loves to have people have awesome starts (like Nakanishi) and others with bad starts (Tenzan) face Off on day 5 for the Tie breaker! Expect Nakanishi to lose a long match either to Nishimura or Akiyama, and lose to Tenzan. Both will have 6 points, Tenzan qualifying with the win on DAy 5.
B) Yoshihiro Takayama > Yuji Nagata in 14:05 by German Suplex.
This is another shocker. Many expected Nagata to pick up a win, but since Takayama lost to Yasuda yesterday, he had to make up some points...
For the Shibata-Yasuda match Yasuda just laid down and told Shibata to cover him. Shibata said to come up and fight him, but Yasuda just laid there, after the match Shibata destroyed the interview area.
first Akiyama defeats Tenzan, which I had expected, but now he loses to Tanahishi??? Nooooooooooooo!!!!!
Also I'm surprised that Nishimura defeated Akiyama, who I predicted would win every match.

Now everyone knows the Makai Club , and President Hoshino, will do everything in their power to win the G1 and put a belt on either Shibata or Yasuda. Yasuda trying to get Shibata to go on and pin him, that was just lame american-esque storyline.
I am shocked that Akinyama beat Tenzan, and even more shoked that Tanahashi beat him (ie Tenzan) as well. I still think either Nagata or Nakanishi will win it though.

1) BLOCK B: Katsuyori Shibata (4) > Yutaka Yoshie (2) in 9:17 with a Kick
In a slight upset, Shibata pinned heavyweight Yoshie. Why did this happen? 2 Things. First, it's a HUGE win for Shibata as this is his greatest win ever by pinfall. But this is Shibata's last points. He will lose to Nagata & Takayama and finish with 4 points. As for Yoshie, expect him to get a huge win over either Takayama or Yasuda and finish with 4.
2) BLOCK A: Masahiro Chono (4) > Hiroshi Tanahashi (2) in 13:11 with a Yakuza Kick
As expected. Chono will no doubt lose his next match with Comeback boy (2 years in a row) Tenzan and might tie with Akiyama to finish with either 4 or 5 points. Tanahashi will lose to Akiyama and might get an upset win over Nishimura like at last year's G1.
3) BLOCK B: Yoshihiro Takayama (4) > Shinsuke Nakamura (2) in 7:08 with a Knee Kick
As expected again. He faces Yoshie & Shibata next (expect another 2 or 4 points) Nakemura now faces Yasuda & Nagata. He might upset Yasuda.
4) BLOCK A: Hiroyoshi Tenzan (2) > Osamu Nishimura (2) in 25:26 with a Crab Hold
Well Well Well. As expected, The comeback starts for Tenzan with a hard fought victory over Nishuimura. What does that mean? First, Tenzan will debut his Anaconda Hold against Nakanishi in Day 5 or later. Second, expect Nishimura or Nakanishi and Tenzan to possibly finish with 6 points, or both the N's to finish with 5 points. This means that Tenzan will beat Chono on Day 4, Nakanishi and Nishimura's outcome will either be a TIE or a win for Nakanishi (to put him with 6 points and force Tenzan to beat him on Day 5 for the pass to round 2)
5) BLOCK B: Tadao Yasuda (4) > Yuji Nagata (2) in 12:21 with a Tiger Driver
A slight upset (technically) Nagata losing this match isn't a a real upset. Yasuda got more points, which makes me think that he'll lose to Nakamura on Day 4 and maybe also to Yoshie on Day 5. Nagata will the finish second in Block B with 6 points picking up wins over Shibata & Nakamura.
6) BLOCK A: Jun Akiyama (4) > Manabu Nakanishi (4) in 16:35 with a Cradle
No surprise here as Nakanishi can't have more than 6 points for Tenzan to get by him... Akiyama will probably beat Tanahashi & draw or beat Chono to get 6 to 8 points. Even if he loses to Chono, he'll get top spot in group A ahead of Tenzan & Nakanishi.
Nice analysis... Finally, the comeback has begun... question... does this mean Tenzan should win every match from now on to make it? That's a big feat...
Chono won as expected... I don't like Yasuda... because of the stupidity of the match between Yasuda and Shibata... I think NJ is starting to become like WWE with that match... and the hell-in-the-cell-like match...
Shibata's win and Yasuda's win surprised me today.
Well my semi-finals predictions seem to have gone to hay.
No more Yoshie.
I have lot all my respect for my namesake...there I would like to be known as WilliamsFan from now on...I feel disgraced with the name of Edge on me...
Once again, Yasuda needed to cheat to win. Shibata, as Makai 4, actually decked Nagata during the match after Hoshino distracted the referee. After the match, Nagata snapped and began attacking Yasuda with a chair. Should have dealt him several chair shots, choking him with the chair won't do anything in the long run
