i thought Hogan held the title once and if not what title am i thinking of ?

He did. He was the original champion in 1983. He won a tournament against wrestlers from all around the world) But back then it was just an yearly tournament.

Hogan lost it against Inoki in 1984.

Because the IWGP title that Hogan won, represented only the league championship. Inoki changed it into a regularly defended belt after the 1987 league. Hisa would be the only person to tell why he's not listed, but that's why I believe he's not listed.
