I was checking out the NJ results section at Strong Style Spirit, which dates back to 1972(when the promotion was founded) and noticed that the main event of "Wrestling Dontaku in Fukuoka Dome 1994" was main evented by Antonio Inoki vs. The Great Muta. Apparently, it was the 1st match of Inoki's retirement countdown and Inoki win via pinfall after a sleeper hold in 20:09. I have been compiling a lot of Muto/Muta matches (due to the 20th anniversary) as of late and I thought this could be a nice pickup. However, when I checked out Goldenboy and highspots, they both had this tape, but this match was not on it. Does anyone know why this is? And does anyone know where I can get this match?

New Japan released 5 new Great Muta Special Edition dvd's last month (Battle 0, 1, 2, 3, 4).
These special edition discs 1-4 are the same as the 4 disc Great Muta box set that was released in 2001 except that the new "special editions" have different cover art and one extra match on each disc that do not appear on the original 4 disc box set.
There is a fifth dvd that is numbered "Battle 0". The Inoki/Muta match appears on this "Battle 0" dvd.
If you live in Japan this dvd shouldn't be very hard to find at all.
You can buy it at amazon.com (Japan) or cdjapan.co.jp
Here is a picture of the front cover of the "Battle 0" disc and a few links of stores where you can buy the disc. This is the one with the Inoki/Muta match on it:
Thanks Lobo!!! I just ordered the whole set and can't wait to watch it. Oh, and does anyone have any idea why the match was cut from Fukuoka Dome '94 tape???

These discs are all region 2 and will not play in a region 1 player most common in Canada and the United States.
But there are places that sell "code free" or "region free" dvd players.
I live in Toronto and found a store in Agincourt Mall (Sheppard & Kennedy area). There is a brand of dvd players called MALATA, there is a MALATA store in Agincourt Mall, I bought my code free dvd player there.
The guy that runs the store gave me the code to make the player region/code free so all I had to do was enter the code into the dvd player remote control so it can now play region 2 discs. If I wanted to play region 3 discs, I would have to enter the code again and switch it to region 3, and so on.
Bannabop, if you live in an area with a large immigrant population chances are you'll be able to find a small store that sells region/code free dvd players. Go to any video store that sells Chinese movies and you'll probably be able to buy a region free dvd player there. I paid $97 tax included for mine. It doesn't have the greatest remote control but the picture is great and it plays my region 2 wrestling discs. I buy my Japanese wrestling dvds from http://www.cdjapan.co.jp
If you can't find anyone that sells these players in your area, you can still buy them online inside Canada. http://www.onlybestrated.com has region free dvd players.
The RJ Tech RJ-1500DVXII is a totally region free dvd player right out of the box. That means you don't have to enter any code to switch regions on the player. You can put a dvd from any region in the player and it automatically plays it without you having to mess with any codes etc.
I will probably pick one up for myself because the Malata, even though it's region free, is a bare bones player that I have to enter a code through the remote every time I want to switch regions which can be a hassle.
Many DVD players, especially those from Apex and Cyberhome, can easily have their firmware flashed to play all region, get rid of Macrovision, DiVX, VCD, SVCD and pretty much anything else you could want to play. They sell for as low as $40 or so when on sale. If you have a decent monitor watching on your computer will probably look be better than on a TV anyway.
It was a strange match. Wasn't really a conflict of characters or styles, but to me, it was very weird. The arena was dark, and they only lighted around the ring area. It was like a demon (Muta) almost eliminated the aura of a charismatic hero (Inoki) but ended up getting killed (with a choke sleeper) after all. I enjoyed it, though.
