One of my favorite wrestlers performing in Japan has always been Curry Man. I know now that he is on the roster for New Japan, but the last I heard of him he was working for Michinoku Pro. In fact, the very last I heard of him was he had a tantrum at the 2000 Super J Cup after he surprisingly lost to "The Vengeful Ghost" Onryu. He blamed pretty much everyone and their cousin for his loss and then just left.
So what happened? What was the 2000 loss and the "tantrum" about? And why is Chris Daniels allowing himself to be used to less than his potential at New Japan?
NJ simply found some better and cheaper American talent in the Junior Heavyweight division: James Gibson, American Dragon, Rocky Romero & Ricky Reyes...
He left NJPW because he wanted to spend more time with TNA...
I have lot all my respect for my namesake...there I would like to be known as WilliamsFan from now on...I feel disgraced with the name of Edge on me...
TNA asked him for complete loyalty, and he gave it to them. On weekends he's working indy shows booked by the TNA offices. If the Inoki Dojo wants Daniels on a show they have to book him through TNA just like any other promotion. Obviously, he's not a student there so it just doesn't seem right to say that he's "in" the dojo either.
That's a shame. I mean, I know Curry Man's gimmick is an elaborate joke, but there was something refreshing about a wrestler who doesn't take himself seriously -- whose catchphrase is "I TASTE GREAT!" And I don't think many people would deny that Daniels isn't a gifted cruiserweight either...

dang i didnt know that happened to daniels...so whats the deal with the grabbing of a ref's arm during the match??? Anyways Chris Daniels is still the man no matter what and one of all my all time favorites no matter what. Well on the matter of him being in the NJPW LA dojo well i went to the site and his name is still under the LA dojo area but i dont know what to make of it now. I guess he just works full time for TNA unless other wise.
I love Curry Man, but I wonder will one day Daniels decides to dump the Curry Man gimmick for a while and revert back to being his Fallen Angel gimmick?
Then again I hope he doesn't.

Dear Brandi,
Do you love Cristopher Daniels cause you'd have to to brag about is pittiful career the way you do. Daniels is attacked in the letters so much because hes done nothing noteable. You claim hes the top indy just because he goes for any sorry belt in any rinky dink promotion he can get his hands on but tell me this why isnt he going for the big gold? Sure he's Curry Man but id think it would help if he actually got OR TRIED FOR the All-Japan TRIPLE CROWN, NOT JUNIOR title. Instead of going for the tag team title we'd like to see him be NWA or IWGP HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION for once. You think winning some cheap NWA/ZERO-ONE Intercontinental tag team title makes him the best indy? Andthe buzzer goes? He won the super 8 twice? EWWW big deal. Someone call Kettner up and tell him that ECWA should change its name cause last time i checked the East Coast was just comprised of Wilming, Delaware. Rather be in something half as big as MSG or better yet Viking Hall then Hillbilly's parish. And whats a (Windy City) League title anyway? Who cares if Wild Peguises was in the Best of the Junior tournament? If that hadnt panned out im sure Benoit would've directed us to his WCW and Raw World title reigns. You dont still see Benoit with the Stampead British mid-heavyweight titles of the industry on these days do you? Curry came up short. Im not saying you have to be champion to mainevent but lord take a page out of RVD's ECW playbook (the TV title chapter) and do something that pans out! Again, and the buzzer goes?

Boy you must REALLY hate Christopher Daniels huh? LOL.
But in his defense, yes Christopher Daniels wrestled for Windy City Pro Wrestling, and he went on and became one of indy wrestling's most prominent names. He did at one point wrestle for WCW but before he had a chance to show what he could do, Vince brought WCW and a lot of the wrestlers in WCW were let go, or left. And this is one of the reasons which why TNA scored the biggest coup by signing him. Wrestling for Ring Of Honor and in Japan also made his star shine brighter IMHO.
If you think of it there are a lot of wrestlers who have won the ECWA Super 8, wrestled in Japan and still have never hit the big time (IE: WWE and or TNA) and some of it is personal reasons, but to each their own. I think Daniels has hit the big time in TNA and he has carved his own niche, whether the WWe will want him that's their decision. But as someone said TNA wanted total loyalty and he gave it to them.

Man, I'm from New Castle, Delaware which is like 10 minutes away from Wilmington. Ya hurt my feelings One to Remember... Besides, I like the ECWA tourneys and what's wrong with the east coast? My state rocks anyway, we always have Jimmy Snuka, King Kong Bundy, and Captain Lou Albano around, winning matches with splashes and body slams, and nothing says wrestling like splashs and body slams. That and George Throughgood and the Destroyers are from Delaware and they did "Bad to the Bone", the coolest song ever and because of that, nothing special ever needs to happen in Delaware again and it'll still rock.
