News from New Japan
(Will all thanks due to Stuart and the guys at puroresufan.com)
Interesting stories coming out of New Japan.
Team JAPAN is dissolving, so hinted Yuji Nagata. With KaShin in Germany with Toru Yano, Fujita missing and Nagata and Nakanishi by themselves, Team JAPAN may go it's seperate ways. New Japan Site Foreman Riki Choshu is hoping for Nagata and Nakanishi to rejoin the regular army.
Jushin Thunder Liger returned to U.S. soil for TNA Wrestling's Bound For Glory Pay per view facing Samoa Joe. Liger wore the red and white, and used his classic entrance theme which got a huge pop from the Orlando crowd. In the end, Liger dropped the match to Joe via his Kokina Clutch Submission. The match was labeled disappointing by some fans (I saw it, and it was to an extent) who felt that Liger should have faced one of TNA's X-Division wrestlers.
Simon Inoki sat ringside with TNA's Dixie Carter. He was introduced, and got a nice pop from the TNA crowd.
CMLL is trying to work out a deal to have IWGP Champion Brock Lesnar come do a show soon for the Lucha promotion in it's ongoing war with rival AAA. CMLL has got a lot of attention due to it's working relationship with New Japan and visits from Tanahashi, Nakamura and Taguchi this year.
Josh Barnett was at DSE offices for a press confrence anouncing his participation on the U-STYLE Axis show on11/23 at Tokyo's Ariake Colosseum. Barnett said he would like to face PRIDE fighter Kiyoshi Tamura, which made U-STYLE's Shigeru Saeki state, rather matter of factly, that U-STYLE was the "King of Pro Wrestling" and with Josh Barnett's belly the way it is "The current Josh Barnett couldn't beat Tamura".
Any thoughts?
