Back in 1988 (I think), there was some sort of locker room confrontation between Tatsumi Fujinami and Antonio Inoki that was shown on TV (and it's on a couple of DVD's s well). It involved them slapping each other, then Fujinami got a pair of scissors and started cutting his own hair. I'm sure you've all seen it.
What was that all about?
Anyone have any info on what the rivalry between them was all about?
Basically, Fujinami started complaining that Inoki, who was getting older, was still the main eventer. Inoki responded by saying, "Then you do it. Why do you all continue to make me do it?" Then, Fujinami said, "but that's the way New Japan has been, hasn't it?"
After exchanging few more words, Inoki said "can you really do it?" and slapped Fujinami, who slaps Inoki back.
I believe it was going to lead to the feud between two, but Inoki would soon break his leg and vacate IWGP title, which Fujinami wins by defeating Vader. After Inoki returns, he challenges Fujinami's title in the famous 60min draw.
