Mike Modest pins Kanemaru for GHC Jr. title!

Earlier today(03\03\30), Mike Modest pinned Yoshinobu Kanemaru to win NOAH's GHC Juniorweight title in 19 minutes. Modest is now the sixth man to win the title, and this was Kanemaru's 4th defense. Modest is borderline juniorweight, and he had been competing mainly in heavyweight matches until this point.

Personally, I think Kanemaru was getting VERY boring as champ, and Modest is a good choice to try and get the division going again. Modest has a lot of potentially exciting challengers. I'd like to see him successfully defend the title against Marufuji, Yoshinari Ogawa, Makoto Hashi and Donovan Morgan before dropping it to KENTA or Kentaro Shiga.

I am personally shocked that Modest won the title, even though Kanemaru wasn't the most "entertaining" champion, but the main reason is that he is more of a heavyweight than a Junior Heavyweight, and this the first junior heavyweight title that I believe he has held.

That's a very scary thought that I hadn't considered. It would make sense, unfortunately, for Modest, virtually a heavyweight wrestler to take the JR Title so he could pass it to Rat Boy, whose also a JR/Heavy guy. I hope KENTA or Marufuji yanks it soon, but would have preferred the Kanemura/Marufuji match crowning a new champ. Kikuchi could take it from Modest or perhaps this sets up Modest/Morgan v Kikuchi/Kanemura JR Tag feud? Hope not.

    If I remember correctly

Mike Modest won the WCW cruiserweight title from The Artist. But then its was like a do-over, cause the next show The Artist still had it(maybe I missed something. I think Mike having beaten the Artist was unplanned upset, and WCW negated the win before the next show.
I don't remember it all too clearly, but I know Mike won that belt

    If I remember correctly...

I believe it was a non-title match, and just grabbed the belt to signify that he had beat the champion.

    Actually.

it was, The Artist offered three Jobbers( one was Modest) a title shot, because he thought the competition didn't deserve a shot, and he chose Mike. Mike won, and became the champ, but on the next show, The Artist was still the champ
