How did NOAH come to be?

I've just gotten back into puro after a long time, and I was wondering what the story behind NOAH was. What exactly was Misawa's problem with All Japan, and why did so many of the AJPW stars come with him? Why did Kawada stay with All Japan? I've read that Kawada and Misawa legitimately hate each other, but I don't know how much water that holds. Can anyone clear this up for me?

Well the Kawada / Misawa thing seems real, Kawada is the only native who didn't leave with Misawa (except for Loyal Fuchi) who stayed as well.

Basically it was a war between Ms. Baba & Misawa. Misawa wanted the power and she refused to hand it to him.

He also hated the fact that gaijins like Hansen & Williams were getting a large role in AJ. That explains why Vader was the only big-name gaijin to go to NOAH.

Misawa probably didn't get that Williams, Vader, and Hansen were all fantastic wrestlers... I'll add Gordy to that list as well.

I've always thought the story centered on just two people: Motoko Baba and Mitsuharu Misawa. But in a way it is crazy, you won't give power to Misawa but you gave it to (Keiji) Mutoh?

She gave away her power so no one could say that if All-Japan fell it was because of her stubbornness (i.e. making the same mistake that led to Misawa and everyone else walk away). Now the problem is the choice of person. Kawada or even Tenryu would have made better presidents.

Gordy was gone since 1993 for drug problems. Vader? Misawa brought him to NOAH. Hansen and Williams were the ones targeted for exclusion.

Anyone care to give more info about the split. I mean, there has to be more to it than just that baba died, misawa took over and baba's wife then wanted the company back, so misawa and the talent left. Anyone have any articles (in english) over the subject and the history of the situation, and was there any talks about baba's wife giving the presidents job to Ace, i have heard that she loves ace but it seems like he would have been a natural fit to take the job.

thanks man. It was a good read. But i was hoping for a more detailed list of problems between kawada and misawa and all that. Oh and no disrespect to dr. death, but if misawa can screw up vader, i would say he would have made steve triple d (dead doctor death).
