I never had any problems with GoldenBoy, I'm not sure if he's still doing tapes though since his site hasn't been updated in a long time. He is in Canada though, and it took customs forever to realize that my tapes weren't drugs or bombs or anything like that. His Best of 1990 DVD set is worth a recommendation though, as you'd have a pretty hard time finding most of those matches anywhere else.
Really tradewynds?? I was seriously considering buying a lot of stuff from goldenboys. How was the quality of the 90s dvds? Plus, i dont have probs with highspots but i bought the departure show from them and it skipped quite a bit in my player and i sent it back to them to get a new one and it did the same and they said it wasn't their fault so... but i just endured and fastforwarded through the black hole parts that took me back to the menu.
The DVD's have nothing to do with the DVD Skipping... It's just your DVD Player, problaly, I had the same problem before with some other DVD's, so I tried them on a diferent DVD player and they worked fine.
I don't actually have his Best of 1990 set, but I have about 1/5 of the matches on it (in really crappy quality) and they all rule. Most of that footage is really hard to find, so all of that in one place is super cool. Plus, you'll get to see garbage matches with psychology, from the days when garbage matches were actually an art form and drew 50,000+. It would take a lifetime to find all of the events everything in that set came from. The best of 1990s set has a lot of good stuff on it too, and would be good to get if you're somewhat new to puroresu or haven't seen a lot of the matches on it. My only hesistation to fully recommend it is that there is obviously a lot of good stuff on events he took those matches from, and after already getting the best match on the card, you may not want/have space to get the rest of it.
The last time I ordered from his was before I had a DVD player that could play minus discs, so I haven't gotten any DVDs from him yet. I complain about bad quality in my videos a LOT, and the worst tape I got from him I would rate VG-EX, and he usually tells you if the quality of a tape sucks. If he says the quality on either of those sets are good I'd take his word for it.
BTW, has anyone else seen the 10 DVD joshi DVD set that was on eBay? Here's a link. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWA:IT IF anyone knows what exactly is on here beyond the obvious I'll get one(if I don't have the footage) or tell you if it's worth getting if I do have it.
If you have any problems with DVD playback, I would recommend that you get an Apex DVD player. They're made with Pioneer parts, are usually hackable to be region/RCE/Macrovision free, play VCD/DVD/SVCD/DiVX and pretty much anything else you throw in them. You can probably get one for less than 50 bucks. I use an AD-1500 and the only disc I've ever had problems with are on ROH titles that skip a few seconds, but since it does that in my computer too ROH probably just did a shoddy job on the discs. Your PC is usually a good bet too, especially if you have a flat monitor.
