he should have dropped the belt to the gladiator damnit! i know it's wishful thinking, but it would have been better than dropping it to rikio. or ratboy.

well honestly, i don't see rikio beating kobashi. I think that we will see a transitional champ that is eventually beaten by rikio. Rikio still has a little left to be desired before he would be a legit champ. Then again, i could also see him win because this is his challenge. I want to see maybe a tenryu win against akiyama, then on the next big show have tenryu challenge for the GHC and win it. Then have tenryu hold it until the big show this year in july and have rikio beat him there.
Well having Rikio lose in a solid fight again would elevate his stock and make him look like a decent contender.
All that time we were all thinking that the man who would defeat Kobashi would probably go on a long run...
And now that I think of it, I wouldn't be shocked of Misawa sent Rat Boy defeat Kobashi and drop to Rikio. Just for the fun of having his pet have gold and then do the "right thing" and give it to someone who might be ready for a push...
Kobashi will hold the title until his knees give out again, I'm convinced of that point now...

what he should really do is show up at All-Japan and drop the GHC into the trash, saying his honour demanded it since Misawa asked him to job to Rat Boy. "and now give here those darn belts kid!"

Nah, i can't see rat boy taking the belts. I am imagining either tenryu or sasaki taking the belt and then rikio going over big on one of them. I am not exactly ready for kobashi to drop it but when he does i don't want someone to take it over for just a month or two to drop it to rikio. Ok here is the timeline:
Kobashi draws with rikio
Tenryu beats akiyama
tenryu scores a tag win on taue or someone his rank
Kobashi scores one more big win against maybe an outsider
Tenryu wins title from kobashi
Tenryu defends against Taue
Tenryu defends against sasaki
tenryu defends against misawa
Tenryu loses belt to rikio
Well to be honest with you i do think that it is a worthy thing to do because it would at least give kobashi a couple more defenses and give rikio the closest thing to a win that he can get. If rikio does win, who will he defend against? We are basically saying that he will win or lose but without getting major wins already in his career, who will he defend against and how believable will it be?
The thing is that a draw doesn't do anything in Japan. Fans don'w want to see it.
You can get the exact same thing by having Rikio dominate most of the match (70-30ish) and have Kobashi make a huge comeback. Then the fans will accept Rikio much more than with a draw, which is just a bad way to push someone.
