According to credible internet sources, the WWE has spoken with Misawa about the possibility of promoting a joint show sometime in the near future. Shane McMahon in specific expressed interest for the two promotions to do a joint Tokyo Dome show in 2006. Of course, discussions are only preliminary at this point, but it is within the realm of possibility.
So, if such a show were to take place, what matches would you like to see on the card?
I find it very hard to believe that Vince would want such an event because his product draws well enough w/o a tie in to a major Japanese promotion. Plus Vince has a history of not acknowledging the other guy.
PWInsider cited Johnny Ace as WWE's contact man to NOAH. This seems rather fishy to me, especially since the WWE's stance on interpromotional work has been "we don't need help to draw in Japan" for a long time. Then again, the Tokyo Dome is a big building, and I don't think the WWE could sell it out, especially given how much they charge for tickets.
Assuming the WWE is more interested in getting half the gate from selling out the Tokyo Dome than keeping their pride, the booking of the show would seem somewhat suspect. I don't see the WWE willing to let NOAH's top guys go over Triple H, Undertaker or JBL. Even with guys like Jericho that the WWE likes to bury, I still don't see WWE being thrilled about having their guys job to outsiders in a country that is going to be their #1 international priority. Unless the show is going to half WWE vs. WWE and half NOAH vs. NOAH. That seems more plausible.
Plus Vince has a history of not acknowledging the other guy
This is true, but Vince surely realizes the big draw of WWE vs. any other major promotion, so I believe he would do it if it would be a profitable venture. Also, it seems as if Shane's influence on international bookings will become more prominent in the near future, and he is much more progressive thinking about cross-promotions than his father.
Doesn't matter. Vince knew he had killer money oportunities in the 80's and 90's here in the states. He probably learned a lesson from the famed SWS show since the Yakuza supposedly had their mits in it.
Do not miss understand, Vince still calls the shots. Especially when it comes to the big time deals his company is involved in.
This card is a dream. It won't happen.
Perhaps you're right, Dangerous Dan. Admittedly, it's probably for the best if this deal doesn't go through. If such shows were to become more numerous in Japan and WWE was to become the prodominant brand of pro wrestling, it would be a sad, sad day for puroresu. I just hope it never gets to the point were puroresu promotions can no longer draw on their own.
However, I do honestly believe that WWE will have more of a presence in Japan & vice versa once Vince is phased out and Shane becomes more influential in the company. I say this based on comments that Shane has made in the past about his intentions for his WWE.
if this were true, i'd fly to japan myself to watch the show...

takayama v. undertaker
marafuji/KENTA v. london/rey (need air traffic control for this one)
taue v. kane ("my chokeslam is better than your chokeslam" match)
