I can't believe it, Kenta Kobashi will make his American debut for ROH on October 1st, what are your thoughts, and who do you think he should face, I have an idea on who will but I want to hear your thoughts.......
I have lot all my respect for my namesake...there I would like to be known as WilliamsFan from now on...I feel disgraced with the name of Edge on me...
I don't think he can go back since he's under contract to them, uless they give him permission.

Joe is allowed to work ROH whenever he isn't needed by TNA. He wasn't willing to a sign contract with them if they wouldn't give him that. And since TNA's problem with ROH stemmed from TV networks thinking they had an association with the sicko, that is a non-issue now. ROH can book TNA talent just like any other indy promotion. ROH does not book TNA talent because they want to build around their own stars, and booking the guys they do want is not easy. Anyone who has tried booking AJ Styles will tell you he is a busy man.
Since the ROH fanbase should at least know that Kobashi is a top line guy for a major Japanese promotion, he should be used in a main event spot against an ROH draw. If I was looking to make money off of this, I would have Matt Hardy take the ROH Title from Punk and have Hardy's first defense be a clean win over Kobashi. Misawa won't like that, but it's not like ROH and NOAH have a working relationship, so Gabe has no reason to care. What is Misawa going to do about it, threaten not to let Kobashi work for ROH in the future? You will draw a 2,000+ paid sellout, as anyone who isn't there for Kobashi will be there for Matt Hardy with the belt. Matt already has tons of support, and a win over Kobashi makes him a main eventer based on in ring success. Not to mention that the DVD sales will be staggering.
Can't say that I have seen a lick of ROH footage. I have been told from a trusted source that it is a spotfest rather than the old school style based on match psychology and telling a story.
If I am wrong in what I was told and beleive please school me.
I am not familiar with much of their roster. I can say that I have kicked around the idea of making the journey from the midwest to LONG island just to see Kobashi.
Edgehead, like you I was a fan of Adam Copeland, even before he was Edge (back in the days when he was Sexton Hardcastle. . ugh. . what a name).
My question has been answered, I think Samoa Joe will be Kobashi's opponent, it just seems like the perfect match IMO, this will probably be like Liger's tour last year.....

Samoa Joe Vs. Kenta Kobashi= Strong Style Fest like Joe Vs Necro Butcher.
Except with Joe and Kobashi it's going to be one of the stiffest matches ROH has seen.
I'd love for Kobashi and Joe to team up against Homocide and Julius Smokes.

A lot of the earlier ROH was very spotty and highspot driven. Lately they've changed their style up quite a bit. Lower down the card they still have spotfests with all the little dudes flying around but at the top of the card there's a lot of good quality wrestling - with psychology even!!!
