Early reports say that the reaction to Taue's win was deafening; apparently the fans cheered and chanted till they got hoarse and noone could overestimate the genuine glee to see Akira Taue finally land the big one, his first singles title since his Triple Crown reign ended nine long years ago.

Congratulations to the big man! I was suprised to say the least when I checked out the results this morning. I hope he has a nice reign. I'd like to see some nice defenses against Kobashi, Morishima, & Akiyama. Rikio just wasn't doing it as champion for me. He was too green to hold the 2nd most important title in Japan today, for me anyway...

First off, by NOT having Rikio hand it to Misawa.
Second, to have Taue, a man who's very popular and never really got a chance to hold a title. He even jobbed to Rat Boy for the title, remember?
Now of course, Iexpect Taue to job to Misawa next month but hey, at least he carried it!
It's certainly good that the GHC was put on someone who is actually over, but this has me even more worried about NOAH's long term future. Taue is not the beginning of a youth movement the company needs.
For the sake of the title, I hope he has a decent run. Rikio flopped in a huge way, and someone needs to put emphasis back on the belt.
Misawa has officially screwed over the main event careers of Akiyama and Rikio. Anyone taking bets on how long it takes him to ruin Morishima?
I think Misawa will use Taue to put the belt on one of the freelancers, either Tenryu, Sasaki, or Kawada. He wouldn't want one of his young main-eventers like Rikio to put over an outsider, would he? Rikio is one of those who will be carrying the company for the next few years, and so Misawa will not want him to look weaker than an outsider. Taue is past it, and so it would not make him look weak if he lost one of those guys.
Lets not forget, he fed Taue to Nagata in 2003.
Yeah, but not as bad as Izumida asking Shimoda to marry him, and then getting his proverbial buttocks handed to him before being dumped in front of a sold out Korakuen crowd. Nothing says loser like getting dumped on TV.
