    ZERO-ONE and NWA

Some interesting other news today from Kris @ World Wide Wrestling...

ZERO-ONE has hooked up with NWA-TNA and they will trade talent starting on 12/15. Jeff Jarrett will be at ZERO-ONE’s 12/15 Sumo Hall show and also appearing on that show will be Roddy Piper. ZERO-ONE President Shinya Hashimoto is rumored to be coming to the U.S. for another late December trip and participate on a couple of TNA’s PPV’s.

This will definitely spike interest in NWA-TNA. I would love to see Hashimoto contending for the NWA title again. It would be neat to see if Ohtani and Tanaka would defend their NWA Intercontinental Tag titles on a TNA show. Also some of the X division stars like Styles, Lynn, and Low-Ki would fit in nicely in Zero-One. Low-Ki even won the International Jr. Title last month. I'm excited to see what happens.

It would certainly make it more interesting for us puro fans, but the average joe on the street probably won't care. And to be honest, with that racist,no-talent Vince Russo in the company,I don't see how those Zero-One guys will be used properly or even interestingly.

In the past when NWA-TNA was starting up,the Jarretts stated themselves that thay weren't even willing to pay for either the airfare or hotel stays for any guys coming over from Japan(like the pay for working a match in that rinky-dink promotion alone would justify the trip across the Pacific!),so I'm cautiously optimistic about this working agreement.

But I really WOULD like to see it turn into some worthwhile. The Jarretts need try something different from what McMahon is presenting, and this may just be the thing,...IF done properly

Before we get too excited (i'd love to see Hashimoto take the belt.) Let's remember that Vince Russo is booking the show. I'm still a little optimistic, (Jarrett could keep Russo away from this.), but I have a bad feeling.

How much influence does Russo have in NWA:TNA? I was just at their website and didn't see his name anywhere... nor did I see any listing for the must-be-Russo's-idea tag team The Johnsons. I don't watch TNA so I can't gauge how much Russo-esque garbage is filtering into the show. Is it possible that the Jarrett's are keeping Vince on a tight leash? If so, this ZERO-ONE/NWA:TNA mix could be the coolest.....

Actually, the Johnsons were thought up before Russo came in, as scary as that sounds. I think they started going by their real names (The Harris Brothers) since, so that may be why you cant find them.

The Johnsons were NOT the Harris Brothers, in fact it was Florida indy wrestlers Mike and Todd Shane under the masks. They have left NWA-TNA and are back on the FL indy scene, once again under their real names....

It's a shame really, because IMO, Mike and Todd are pretty good wrestlers. But anyway, if this partnership isn't botched, we could be seeing Otani vs. Lynn or Tanaka vs. Jarrett. (I'd pay $10.00 to see Otani vs. Lynn myself.)
