Anyone have any information about this AWA title?

I believe this tournament is not the final. The winner gets to wrestle in the championship match to decide the new champion. Not sure where the match(es) will take place, though.
So the winner faces Karagias????Interesting way for Gagner to get exposure...
I have lot all my respect for my namesake...there I would like to be known as WilliamsFan from now on...I feel disgraced with the name of Edge on me...
The winner of the tourny will get to wrestle in a match or tournament to crown the new champ. I know Karagias is still listed as the champ on their website, but I also read that Gagner has a problem with him for not dropping the title to Corino. Whatever that means...
It should also be kept in mind that Gagner is the same guy who promoted local indy workers as The Patriot and Golga. And promised to deliver Austin vs. Goldberg to your local county fair. If that match ever happened, he'd probably bring in an asian indy worker and say that he's Sato. Times may be tough for Zero-One, but associating with that scumbag is really scraping the bottom of the barrell.

Now refresh my memory. Is this before or after the proffits Verne was handling from the SuperClash III ppv mysterious vanished? Oh silly me that was in 1988 when the company still legally possed a tape library.
Dale Gagner has NOTHING to do with Verne Gagne, PERIOD.
Call a spade a spade. Verne may have been a tighwad and shafted a bunch of people, but Gagner WISHES his "AWA" could be in the same league as Verne's promotion was, even in it's darkest days.
You may have missed this Dan, but I previously exposed One to Remember as Dale Gagner in another thread.
I also do not recall ever defending Verne Gagne for screwing the boys, nor do I recall anyone on this forum ever defending Verne screwing the boys. Of course, he never had the luxury of having Hulk Hogan, Honky Tonk Man, Buff Bagwell, Jerry Lawler, Roddy Piper, Raven, Nick Bockwinkle, Larry Z, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Bobby Heenan, The Patriot (as in, not the real Patriot or the guy who legally bought the gimmick from him), Chyna, Jimmy Hart, Dusty Rhodes, Jimmy Snuka, The Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase(I'm sure either Ted or Vince owns that name BTW), King Kong Bundy, Doink, Iron Shiek, Moolah, Greg Valentine, Kamala and Dale Gagne(who is higher on the list than all these guys as a public FYI) all at the same time, like AWA-STARS has now according to their web page. If he had that many people who were all big names, he probably wouldn't have had to screw the boys in the first place. BTW, it's about time you stripped Evan of the title, seeing as he PUBLICLY declared he wasn't wrestling anymore close to 3 months ago. I'd also be really surprised if Nick Bockwinkle was the one who decided to strip him too.
There is one thing that has me puzzles Dale, and I was hoping you could fill in the blanks for me. Steve Corino is one of the boys, in the purest sense of the word. When guys from the old school talk about there being a "bond of the boys" Steve Corino is one of the few guys today who still feels and understands that bond. It wouldn't take him too long to figure out what kind of promoter you are. Obviously, he has another incentive to do business with you. So my question is, how are making enough money with a glorified indy fed, after paying Hogan and the other guys noless, to buy Steve Corino's pride and integrity as a professional wrestler?

As of December 14, 1988 the AWA was just another fly-by-night operation with wrestling's very own Victor Lustig at its helm!
And I bet Gagne wisheshs his AWA could be in the same league as WCW in its darkest days. Hell even WCW got better buyrates then the lousy 0.5 the crooked mustard up!
You do realize that what constitutes a 1.0 buyrate has changed greatly over time don't you? In the late 80s the WWF was getting buyrates of 10.0 and better for every PPV. As a point of comparison, Wrestlemania XIV did more buys than any PPV in history until that point with a buyrate of less than 2.0. The number of buys needed for a 1.0 buyrate has constantly increased over the last 20 years, and is currently around 400,000 buys for a 1.0 buyrate. No one knows exactly how many buys were needed for a 1.0 buyrate in 1988, but a buyrate of .5 in 1988 was a complete disaster.
Not all of WCW's PPVs drew a .5 buyrate either, however they all did many more buys than Superclash III. WCW also had slightly better TV coverage than the AWA/WCCW alliance.
I do hope you are not seriously trying to imply that entire PPV industry constantly changed the method used to measure a 1.0 buyrate because the AWA/WCCW/CWA had one PPV that lost a lot of money, which came out of Gagne's pocket, not the PPV providers'.
What is your problem with Gagne anyway? You're obviously not in the business, so there's no way he could have ever screwed you on a payday or stole your woman or anything like that. Compared to John Collins or Hawk or Paul E. or Dale Gagner, Gagne was pretty good about paying his bills.
