How do talent contracts in MMA work?

What i mean is, what format do they use? Is it on a pay-per-fight basis? Or they sign year-long contracts like in pro-wrestling? Or sign on to do a number of fights over whatever span of time?

Usually they sign three fight contracts, but some fighters sign for more or fewer fights.

That's pretty cool...I am sure they also are hired and pay per fight too...for example...some of those guys like Shamerock are getting close to the end of their career so they seem to be taking on fight at a time. Shamerock is still cool in my book....

Shamrock was always cool, but he getting to be on the sunny side of his career.

Also how much would they get paid per fight?
I have lot all my respect for my namesake...there I would like to be known as WilliamsFan from now on...I feel disgraced with the name of Edge on me...
