I understand that upsets are a part of the MMA world and Pride is struggling to survive right now but man that Sakuraba loss has got to hurt. I wonder if anyone correctly picked the results of this show?

    Hey:

Truly a bizarre series of events. PaCrappa told me yesterday that Newton had been kayoed by a FLYING KNEE, good lord!

Who would have thought that Schembri had the striking skills necessary to knock out Sak? I hate to say it, but I think the time has come for Sakuraba to consider retirement.

Quinton Jackson proved how dangerous he is with what appears to be a brutal victory over Kevin Randleman. A win like this makes the matchup with Silva that much more interesting, but if Jackson tries to duke it out with Vanderlei he'll find himself in a world of pain.

Finally, we have a new PRIDE Heavyweight Champion of the World in Emelianko Fedor. I suspect there will be a rematch before the end of the year if the Grand Prix does not go through.

I don't know of anyone who got all eight correct results, though I know a guy who got 7/8.
****, I was 4/5 but managed to get none of the last 3 right

Terrible bad luck for Saku, from what I heard on the pbp, he was reeming Nino in the stand-up (just look at his legs on the photo) before an idiotic mongolian chop attempt allowed Nino to get back up and knee him in the head 3 times. Don't think Nino showed much striking skills, though. It seems to show how tentative Saku has become on the ground recently: he didn't take the fight to Nino there and has got punished while in his opponent's guard (like the Cro Cop fight)

Still, I hope he can come back, I've been wearing a Saku39 t-shirt all day yesterday as a sign of support

Here's the shot of the Carlos Newton KO:

As for Fyodor winning the title, he certainly deserves it from what I heard of the fight, but it's always a disappointment when a title changes hands by decision... Maybe they should have an extra-round system for big titlematches...

    And people complain about HHH...
If it happens, I hope it's a non-title match: I've nothing against Sapp but he hasn't done anything to deserve a shot at the belt so far (except get over with the japanese audience with his antics).

    Hey:

Feelgood, thanks for the pics. I feel Carlos' pain.

Nogueira certainly should get a rematch before Sapp goes in there. I wonder if the fervor will finally start to die down after Mirko drops him...
