I just watched this awesome documentry last night, and it leads me to ask, what did ever happen to Mark Kerr? After his poor showing against Heath Herring, he simply disappeared. Anyone have any insight?
He fought Ricardo Arona in Brazil at the Abu Dhabi Submission Championship on May 17th I'm not sure who won. I believe mmaweekly had something about him fighting in a debut mma show for a boxing promoter but I don't remember the details or even if it was a fact or rumor.
I looked it up on sherdog he lost on decision 4-0. Reports say he was about 15-20 lbs overweight so he still has a way to go to reach fighting shape. I found a copy of the mmaweekly item on sherdog's message board it looks like they want him to fight Travis Wiuff and they want Gary Goodrich vs Andre Roberts too but I don't know if they will get it off the ground. I kind of wish UFC would bring him back for a one fight deal against someone like Gan McGee and see how it goes. McGee could use a big win and a loss wouldn't hurt him that much and Kerr could use another payday.
He has signed for a fight on Pride 27: Triumphant Return against Norihisa Yamamoto on February 1st. In case you don't know about him Yamamoto has a 5-11 MMA record (2-4 in Pride). He is a solid former Rings fighter but beatable if Kerr is in shape. He is best know for high profile losses like- Guy Mezger, Bob Sapp, Ricardo Morais, Assuerio Silva, and Rickson Gracie. He doesn't have a win against anyone with a winning record.
