    Question Severns Whereabouts....

Anyone know where the Beast Dan Severn has been lately? I watchd an older UFC tape the other day and he was the top name in the tournament... I was just wondering where he's been lately and what is the Head to Head record between Severn and Shamrock?

he's still around doing small MMA shows, his last fight was in sep. 2001, also there was a big contraversy because he took a dive or was trying to "work" it without his opponents knowing of it in one of his latest fights.

as far as Severn vs Shamrock they only fought twice with each of them getting a win, Shamrocks win is more convincing since he choked him and Severns win was by decision.

Severn will be challenging Shin'ya Hashimoto for NWA World Heavyweight title this month in Japan. It's a puroresu card, not an MMA card.

There's a Queen tribute band doing a loop near here, and I swear Dan is on vocals.

Going back to the Shamrock V Severn head to heads - Shamrock quickly choked out Severn at UFC 6 which is a pretty disappointing fight, as Severn was the favourite, but just put up no real fight when Shamrock slipped in the choke.

The rematch (can't remember which UFC it was) was pretty controversial, as described in Shamrock's biography. Basically, it was ruled beforehand that no closed fist strikes would be allowed and maybe there was another rule, I cant remember. Anyway, that is fair enough because these were the days when UFC was pretty controversial in the US. Anyway, Shamrock and Severn were told before the fight that if they broke the rules, they would each get a small fine and that would be it. Shamrock didn't like this - he felt the rules should be upheld, not "unofficially" allowed to be broken. Anyway, Shamrock observed the rules, even refused to close fist punch Severn when in the guard. Severn, I think I'm right in saying, did use close fists. Severn won on decision - and BTW, the fight was in Severn's hometown. Well, this is the way Shamrock's bio says it.

I think that WWF was building up to it, but Severn didn't get enough heat. Shamrock got instant pop which made it a difficult situation...
