K-1 question

I was wondering if they still hold the K-1 grand prix? I was also wondering how did the promoters choose who would participate in the grand prix tournament?

Any information would be a great help.

yeah they do still hold it, and they pretty much run events world wide and those winners earn slots to fight in Japan and the world grand prix.

Well what got me confused is i saw an ad in a copy of Black Belt Magazine while I was at my doctors office (i have no idea why he would have a copy) that said the promoters were looking for more american fighters to compete in K-1 events. All the fighters had to do was send tapes of their best fights to the address in the ad. I figured they always just scouted the champions of various kickboxing (karate, etc.) circuits.
