    Tiger Jeet Singh

Aside from the stuff I've seen of him in 90s FMW and IWA Japan, I've seen very little of Tiger Jeet Singh.

Though when I watched him in his matches with Onita in FMW and him in the IWA Kawasaki Dream I can imagine he was pretty broken down as I heard he'd been wrestling since the 50s.

Has Tiger had any matches worth mentioning in his career or was he just a cheap clone of The Original Sheik?

I kinda enjoyed his matches against Inoki for NWF title. One of them has a complete "clean" Singh (without any heel stuff). If you like pro-wrestling from the 70s, you probably enjoy their matches as well.

He wrestled a lot in Detroit in the '70's, against the Original Shiek. I have a match on DVD (from Toronto, I think) where they wrestled in a mud pit in the ring.

I never really saw much in him as a wrestler, even his "hardcore style" never impressed me. I've never seen his matches with Inoki though so I think I will check them out. Who knows maybe my opinion of him will change.
Did he ever wrestler for AJPW?
Which Japanese wrestlers besides Inoki did he have memorable matches with?
Also when did he do his first tour of Japan?

Actually I read today that Singh jumped to AJPW in I think the year was 1981.

He was part of a big supershow that AJ and NJ co-promoted and teamed in the main event with Abdullah The Butcher against Antonio Inoki and Giant Baba. That match must have been a HUGE deal at the time with Inoki and Baba teaming together. Is this match around the trading circles on DVD?
Also I wonder if you know Hisa if the incident where Singh attacked Inoki's wife's bodyguards at the shopping mall and slapped her was recorded on film?
The feud between Inoki and Singh after this must have been HOT!

Singh jumped to AJ in the summer of 1981.

As for the joint card, it was actually promoted by Tokyo Sports Newspaper. You can click "Results Archive" under "History & Results" in the menu above to see the complete card. I think the match is on YouTube too.

The incident that Singh attacked Inoki and his wife was an angle though police almost arrested Singh, and yes, the feud between Inoki and Singh was hot.

Inoki's then-wife is a very famous actress in Japan. That probably helped the angle too.

    Jahno.
