    Inoki Vs Andre

I read that one of a few of Andre's legit losses(before the WWF ruined him by having him lose to the Ultimate Warrior every other week) came by the hands of Antonio Inoki when he made The Giant submit. When did this match take place and what did Inoki use to make the big man Quit?

I'm not sure of the date off hand, but it was back in about the mid '70s.I actually have the match on tape(or at least most of it in highlighted form). He had Andre in a reverse sitting armbar, where your opponent is lying face first on the mat with you opponent's arm bent backwards thhrought both of your legs. Inoki must have had the hold on for somthing like 3 or 4 minutes before the referee called for the bell to be rung.I had read that Inoki/New Japan dished out some big bucks for Andre to agree to this, but I don't know if this is true, since most people in North America would never see this match,or at least not for MANY years.

1986/06/17 Aichi Prefectural Gym in Nagoya.

Inoki beats Andre with an armbar (exaplained by Tradition Rules).

So, it was almost a year before Hogan's pinfall win over Andre.

Then again, Inoki wasn't the first to get a clean win over "Andre the Giant". Canek pinned him in Mexico around '84 or '85. I believe he was the first since Andre started using the name "Andre the Giant". There have been several pinfalls over Andre prior to this, but the decisions were always reversed after the matches.

I also have people tell me that Andre used to lose a lot against Don Leo Jonathan. My best friend's father, a huge wrestling fan told me that he saw Jonathan beat andre at least twice, in Montreal and Hull.

But was he already wrestling as "Andre the Giant" when he was losing to DLJ? Possibly as "Gene Fere" or "Monster Rousimoff"??

    I can't answer that question...

When did Jonathan wrestle? Did he wrestle for AWA or WWWF or even WWF?

Hisa, In Montreal Andre was known as "Le geant Jean Ferre"

also, Luds, Jonathan wrestled in the AWA and occasionally in the WWWF, he was mostly a midwestern area wrestler.
I have lot all my respect for my namesake...there I would like to be known as WilliamsFan from now on...I feel disgraced with the name of Edge on me...
